

Question: What exactly is Chi Kung or Qigong?
Answer: Chi-kung (also spelled Qigung Chi Gung, and Qigong) are deep breathing exercises that are meant to cultivate or develop something known as “Chi” These deep breathing exercises can be done moving or while sitting or standing in various postures.
Question: What exactly is chi?
Answer: Chi is actually translated as breath or air. However it is more accurate to call it vital energy. It is an Asian concept. In Japanese martial arts it is sometimes called ki. The Chinese concept of health is one in which the body is seen to be in good health when the flow of natural chi is in harmony. There is a balance of both yin and yang.
Question: What can Chi Kung do for me?
Answer: Chi kung primarily keeps your body in balance. When your body is in balance you have good health and are free form illness. Chi kung also gives you enhanced vitality. Practitioners feel younger and have more energy to do the thing they need to do. Chi kung is meant to enhance health in the long term. Like most Chinese martial arts, chi kung has a benefit of keeping the body healthy into old age. Chi kung give you longevity of the body. You want to have a strong quality of life when you are older not be sickly and have to use a scooter to get around the grocery store.
Question: Do you have a Chi Kung class?
Answer: No. The chi gung taught at my Kung fu school i taught as part of the Tai Chi curriculum. In a typical Tai Chi class student may practice forms, push hands or chi gung.
