The kids boxing class
The youth boxing class at the Las Vegas Kung Fu academy focuses on teaching kids both the fundamentals of classic boxing and integrating boxing with the other traditional martial arts that we teach.
Winning and losing
In today’s society kids are babied too much. The life lesson of being able to handle both success and failure in a positive way is one of the most import lesson that parents can impart on their children. So many kids today think that throwing a tantrum is acceptable behavior. When training in a competitive art like boxing, in an actual match there is a definite winner and loser. Often, kids tend to think that winning is everything but in class we teach them to be humble when winning and gracious in losing. We teach them how to handle the feelings of triumph from success but also more importantly how to deal with the disappointment of losing. We show that losing is a great motivation to push themselves to be better and to work on technique even more.
Kids know that whether they win or lose is attributed directly to how much time and effort they have spent practicing and how disciplined they were in preparing for the match. This very fact alone teaches responsibility for oneself.
Every match is an opportunity to both grow as a person and improve as a competitor. One of the greatest things about boxing or competitive martial arts is that every time you compete you have a chance to become a good sportsman rather than a sore loser In the boxing class, good sportsmanship is a top priority. We teach that winning is not as important as learning from each sparring experience.
If your child has been getting into confrontations with other kids or has developed a temper, our kids boxing class is the answer you have been looking for..
Some people worry that enrolling their kids into a boxing class will somehow promote aggression in their child’s personality, We have that our kids boxing class actually does the complete opposite. Your child will learn how to control themselves and their emotions from having to do so everyday when sparring.[pullquote style=”right” quote=”dark”]The kids who train here are much, much, less likely to get into fights.[/pullquote] The kids who train here are much, much, less likely to get into fights. Your child will eventually become very skilled at martial arts. When this happens it imparts a sense of power to them and also a sense of responsibility knowing that they could possible hurt someone using their skills makes them much more likely to not use their skills outside of our school unless absolutely necessary. They don’t feel they need to improve anything because they are allowed to prove themselves every day in sparring class. Also, they know that there are consequences at our school if we to ever find out if they were the aggressor in a situation
Sparring lets kids RELEASE their aggression in a positive manner. All of the frustrations of the day are completely gone by the end of their workout. Just like adults, kids find that hitting the pads and punching bags releases frustration, and feels good.
Boxing is a great way for children to get up and release some of the pent up energy that they develop throughout their day. The warmup for our Kids boxing class consists of exercises that will increase your child’s stamina and endurance. We get their entire body to work so that they will be ready and warmed up to start learning the actual boxing techniques in the second part of class.
At the Las Vegas Kung Fu Academy, we provide a family friendly and SAFE environment.
When the children spar in class, we monitor each one of them to make sure they are having self control and sparring to perfect their technique. We focus on teaching kids not only the basics and fundamentals of Western boxing, but also how to add in the other traditional martial arts (kung fu, escrima, judo) into their boxing style as well. Since boxing is an individual sport your child will be able to take things at their own pace and eventually they will start to develop a style that will be based off of their own successes and achievements.
Boxing is a mental sport
The most important lesson that boxing will teach your child is the value of preparation. Boxing is a skill that you do not gain overnight. Boxing is something that needs to be practice regularly. Sparring against other kids quickly teaches them that you cannot achieve success without hard training and daily practice.
