The Philosophy Of Our Las Vegas Kung Fu Martial Arts School

At our Las Vegas school our philosophy is that anything worth learning is worth learning well. The amount you put into it is what you will get out of it. I believes that only through hard work and dedication can you achieve your goals in life.

The Chinese characters for 'kung fu'

The Chinese characters for the art of kung fu literally translate to "skill through hard work" or "devotion". It does not mean martial arts or fighting skill.

Our teaching philosophy at the Las Vegas Kung Fu Martial Arts School, with the both the children's class and adult class is that setting small goals for yourself and then accomplishing those goals is the way to fulfill your potential. A college degree is not earned in just a semester and in that same way kung fu can't be mastered in a month. Any big and overwhelming endeavor can be managed successfully by breaking it into manageable sections. Many kids in the Juniors class want to learn kung fu really quickly. Ambition is good, I always remind them that Shaolin kung fu is limitless and that they are on a continuous journey that will never end. They will never ever be at a point in their training where they no longer have room for improvement. The philosophy of Shaolin Kung Fu is to always strive to refine and perfect your skill.

The benefits of kung fu training at our Las Vegas school

How will training in the martial art of kung fu benefit you? Well, martial arts give you a chance to channel your energies into movement. By concentrating on developing your martial arts skill, men, women and children alike, can learn to focus longer, concentrate more and start to attain their full potential.

Self Discipline and Focus

Self discipline and focus are intrinsic to learning the martial art of kung fu. Learning the power of self discipline enables you to accomplish anything you set your mind to. Martial art classes at our Las Vegas school are not about fighting people, but it's about fighting the greatest enemy of all - fear. The discipline of martial arts enable you to conquer your innermost fears. It allows a very powerful force to be unleashed from within you.

When the discipline of kung fu martial arts is used to conquer fear, you then learns to transfer that same discipline to other areas of your life. Drive and determination can overcome many obstacles in life.

I know of no other activity that can accomplish as much for people as the martial arts can.

quote iconDear Sifu Kevin and Simu Renee, Thank you for being there for me and helping me with my efforts at self improvement...Our adult student Sara After college graduation, I found myself with a lingering ankle injury and adjusting poorly to a sedentary lifestyle. Years passed where I gained weight and was unhappy with how I looked and felt. During this time, I was interested in kung fu but did not feel physically fit enough to participate and unmotivated to do anything about it. Finally, last spring after recently losing 30 lbs. I was presented the opportunity, time and motivation to join. Since last spring the most enjoyable improvement for me has been actually felling my age rather than older. Having the stamina and drive to go out and do what I want. I finally feel I have shaken that old ankle injury with improvement in balance and strengthening. So thank you again, for helping me feel better about myself, who I am and what I have become. Thank you for teaching me Kung Fu! Sincerely"

"I've always thought of myself as being physically active; I was still lifting weights even after my athletic career effectively ended in the late nineties."

"This led to quite a shock for me when I was diagnosed with adult onset Type 2 Diabetes approximately two years ago (my employment means that I sit behind a desk for 8+ hours a day, and I hardly even noticed that I had added a few extra pounds). My Doctor helped me to understand what Diabetes is about and what medications he recommended that I take. I took the medication for the better part of a year, but I continued to hear and read about Diabetes drugs being considered dangerous or life-threatening. To me, the daily dose of drugs almost sounded more harmful then the disease, so I vowed to find another way to combat the disease.

I came up with the usual list of resolutions that people regurgitate when ... read more of Brad's Story here...

I'm in better shape than I was ten years ago...Hi may name is Sara, and for the past two and a half years I have really appreciated everything I’ve gotten from the Las Vegas Kung Fu Academy. I’m in better shape than I was ten years ago even. I have improved my balance and flexibility enormously and it is a lot of fun. I’ve created friendships here. And I have enjoyed every moment of what I have learned.”
